(More customer reviews)I just bought 14 pounds of dust! An amazing thing! Ten years ago, vets were trying to beg their patients' owners to stop buying "clumping" litter. Their fear? That the very fine dust that seemed to be inherent at that time with this type of litter, easly carried toxoplasmosis from the feces of ill cats, and could transmit the disease to healthy cats, kittens and even owner. It was a well-founded fear and I promptly quit using any brand of clumping litter. However, it's been several years and I've tried out a few brands recently upon getting a new kitten. I found that most of the popular companies have managed to formulate a "grainier" litter that has very little dust, eliminating most threats of toxoplasmosis and making my small bathroom a nicer place to share with my kitty's litter box. THIS brand, however, is still a box of face-powder. I found it pretty scary to see the enormous cloud of very fine dust that swirled out of the box and floated throughout my entire apartment! This is no exaggeration. It floated gently in the lovely beams of sunlight right out to my living room. I had poured very carefully to prevent this sort of thing, and what I saw was not good. Not. Good. The box carries the standard warning of risk to humans, especially pregnant women, on the dangers of toxoplasmosis, but does not proclaim it loudly enough, in my opinion. It also lacks the neccessary warning of the danger pregnant cats and live kittens are exposed to. I highly recommend you use another brand of litter. If you see dust puffing up like powder, even when you pour slowly from a low height, then do NOT use it.
